Pitch #1: Fastball, low-90’s velocity. Rising arm side movement that he likes to run upstairs and try to blow past batters. Does a great job of jamming left-handed hitters under the hands with it.
Pitch #2: Changeup, low-80’s velocity. Great dropping movement, makes it difficult for hitters to make contact with. Johan Santana like changeup. Will use either changeup or curveball but rarely uses both in the same outing.
Pitch #3: Curveball, high 70’s velocity. 11-5 movement that he can control very well. Uses it primarily against right handed hitters, but will mix it in against lefties as well.
Delivery: Throws from the stretch with a high leg lift up around the letters with high three quarters arm slot. Really easy delivery with little effort, easy to repeat, has a long stride. Slow from the stretch, maintains a high leg lift above his waist. Stands on the first base side of the rubber.
Control: Great control over all pitches, can pitch north-south and east-west. Will use both the fastball and changeup to try and strike hitters out. Spikes a lot of balls into the ground, leading to wild pitches and pass balls. When he misses he misses over the plate, which leads to high homerun rates.
Poise: Takes his time between pitches. Doesn’t seem to rattle easily. Not affected by base runners despite his slowness to the plate. Strong late inning relief mentality.
Physical Description: Well balanced physically with good muscle distribution. Broad shoulders and muscular upper body. Doesn’t need to add weight.
Projection: Shut down lefty who can face both lefties and righties. Dominates lefties. Has the ability to be an 8th inning setup guy, but is probably best suited in a 7th inning or situational role.
